2012 was a big year for the 1920′s. You can see that through influences in fashion, cocktails, and even a little in music. It would only be fitting that bars followed suit. However, most the 1920′s style bars TSL have seen are missing something, dancing. That’s why we love Nightjar. The passionate duo of Roisin and Edmund sought to create a place that would be a nightlife destination in the 20′s. Besides having incredible cocktails, they have live music 5 days a week. The bar is top to bottom authentic; from the glass wear to the cocktails. Their efforts have paid off as they were ranked as the 3rd best bar in the world for 2012.
The Nightjar team is constantly evolving and experimenting. They have the largest collection of vintage spirits, they age their own alcohol and even cocktails. We tried their barrel-aged piña colada and it was incredible (£10). You get the tropical flavours you’re used to but more complex and the drink in general has velvety mouth feel. If you’re a little hungry fear not as they are one of the only 20′s style bars that serve food (Sample menu here). Their tuna tartare was fresh and very flavourful (£9.50). The service is impeccable and the whole evening is capped off with their homemade chocolate truffles. An evening at Nightjar is total transformation to a different era.
