In 2010 Rafe, Rocky and Dave went to a gig and watched a band play to a group of nattering and unappreciative punters. Disgruntled by such disrespect, it was from that moment onwards that the pair decided support musicians through rather unconventional means. They took one living room and band together with eight friends thus making the way for the very first Sofar – a now internationally worldwide affair which TSL would like to shout about. Think an intimate gig in someone’s front room where music fans join with music genius.
All over the world, London included, cities play host to monthly Sofar gigs held in secret locations. Despite being heavily oversubscribed, these events are free with the option to BYO. To get your special invitation all you need to do is sign up to the newsletter and fill out a questionnaire. Next, your answers will be carefully considered by the team a) to make sure you are not a psychopath and b) to make sure you are passionate about music. After that, fingers-crossed you’ll be notified of your ticket and if not, you can always nominate your own living one and host your very own Sofar!
P.S. Fun fact: the unknown band So Far discovered in the noisy pub turned out to be the well-known and established Friendly Fires.
